Christmas Cranberry Sauce

A must-have condiment for your festive meal, made with Christmas Mead!

Christmas Mead Made with Christmas Mead

Ingredients

  • 250g Fresh Cranberries
  • Zest of 1 Medium sized Orange
  • 100g Soft Brown Sugar
  • 50ml Christmas Mead
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Sumac
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg

  • fine grater or micro plane (for zesting)

Prep your ingredients

  1. Wash your cranberries in a sieve and remove any stalk bits
  2. Measure out your sugar and mead
  3. Zest your orange

Make the sauce

  1. Add cranberries, orange zest & spices to a pan on a medium heat stirring continuously for about 5 mins or until fragrant.
  2. Add the mead and allow the cranberries to soften into a jammy consistency.
  3. Add the sugar and stir for 5 mins until dissolved.
  4. Remove the pan off the heat and once cool add the sauce to a sterile jar, and store in a cool dry place for up to 2 months.

Serving suggestions & Optional Changes

  1. Serve glazed over pigs in blankets or in a roast turkey sandwich.
  2. Optional: Swap out the brown sugar for caster sugar for a sweeter sauce.
